User testing

Two rounds of prototype testing were conducted using trymyUI.

Participants were asked to complete the following tasks:

+ Find the expert commentary associated with the 2012 NFPA 1 Fire Code

+ View the most recent NFPA 2 Hydrogen Technologies Code

+ While viewing the most recent NFPA 2 Hydrogen Technologies Code add a bookmark to section 4.1

+ How many previous versions of the Annual National Fire Code Sets are available?

+ Download a PDF of the 2010 California Electrical Code

+ Using the help center find information about how to search using an NFC Index File

+ Find information about the Codes and Standards development process

+ Find contact information for NFPA

+ Find all amendments to the State Codes

Results and findings

Testing results were compiled with task completion notes, and survey question responses. Though most participants found the functionality intuitive, it became clear that a simple and clean design would be needed to help visitors understand how best to navigate the site.
